Curling Club

A Popular Winter Sport in the Resort Village

Curling

The Candle Lake Curling Club is home to 3 great sheets of curling ice in the fall & winter.  We pride ourselves on our friendly, fun & outgoing club members and we welcome all who are interested to join.  Each season begins with our Annual General membership meeting (in October) and the registration process.  This is followed up by an open house and a learn to curl session.  Come out and see where all the fun begins.

Registration

You can register as a single or as a team for evening league play (Monday to Thursday) or afternoon league play (Tuesdays). There is an eight week league beginning in late October which ends in December and a twelve week league beginning in January that ends in March.  If you are unable to commit to the league play, you can easily put your name forward as a sub or get involved in the added activities offered at the Club. Each season the Club holds four bonspiels and a monthly Doubles night.

Candle Lake Curling Club is host to a membership with a diversity of age and skill levels; if you’re looking for a social recreational activity and a lot of fun, join our Club today!

History

The Candle Lake Curling Club first got its start in 2002, curling outdoors on marina ice. Through fundraising and volunteer labour, the Rosemarie Mitchell Centennial Arena was built. The Arena has three sheets of artificial ice which is prepared and maintained by volunteers. The Arena also includes a 2,000 square foot viewing area which accommodates 90 people.  There is also a fully equipped kitchen and washroom facilities.

The Curling Club encourages anyone to join!

Rental Opportunities

During the curling season the curling rink can be rented by the hour per individual sheet of ice or day for all three sheets.  Brooms, sliders and throwing sticks are available if needed.  The lounge area is also available to rent (capacity 90 people). In the off season the rink area can be rented as a hall.  A rental can be combined with the lounge viewing area and/or the kitchen facilities.
