Have Your Say on Proposed Changes to the District Official Community Plan &  Zoning Bylaw 05-2026

Provide Feedback By June 19, 2026

The Resort Village of Candle Lake is a member of the North Central Lakelands Planning District (NCLPD). Other members include

  • The District of Lakeland No. 521 (including Emma, Christopher, Anglin, and McPhee Lakes)
  • The Rural Municipality (RM) of Paddockwood No. 520
  • The Resort Village of Elk Ridge
  • The Village of Christopher Lake

The NCLPD exists to facilitate coordinated land use planning among member municipalities and to provide a common vision and policy framework for sustainable development, infrastructure investment, environmental protection, and community growth through a unified District Official Community Plan (DOCP).

With the updated DOCP now complete, each member community is updating their respective Zoning Bylaw which regulates land use and development in the Resort Village of Candle Lake for the health, safety, and general welfare of the inhabitants of the municipality.

The language in the new Zoning Bylaw has been modernized with updated definitions and terminology; as such, side-by-side comparisons of the existing and new bylaws are not always possible.

Proposed Changes

To aid in understanding, the Resort Village has created information sheets on sections of the bylaw where changes are proposed. The information sheets include:

  • Current zoning bylaw provision
  • Proposed new bylaw provision
  • What would change?
  • Implications of the change
