20 Year Master Plan for Parks, Open Spaces and Trails

Planning for the Future

Work to develop a 20-year Master Plan for Parks, Open Spaces and Trails at Candle Lake is underway. What is a Master Plan? It is a document describing the vision a community has for its future. Development and maintenance of recreation infrastructure is an important responsibility for the Resort Village. To ensure more strategic spending of existing and future dollars, this Master Plan will help guide spending plans to ensure a high quality of life continues as the community grows and changes.

The Master Plan aims to create a network of multi-use trails and open spaces for local and visitor recreational use. The objectives are to:

  • Physically connect the community to strengthen its social connections;
  • Meet the recreation needs of residents and visitors today and into the future; and
  • Create a green space blueprint for community-wide and neighbourhood-level parks and open spaces.

Crosby Hanna & Associates have been hired to develop a Master Plan to help realize these goals. Wallace Insights will help us engage with stakeholders and the public throughout the planning process.

Have Your Say!

Preliminary ideas for the Master Plan were first displayed at the May 18th Welcome to the Lake event.

Engage more deeply in the planning process by helping us out! Volunteer to bring the Master Plan ‘pop-up’ booth to events throughout the summer.  Please email planning@wallaceinsights.com if you are interested in volunteering.

Comment on the Master Plan

There is still time to view and comment on the Preliminary idea boards in-person. Watch for the ‘pop-up’ display at popular locations this summer.

Project updates will also be provided in The Wave newsletter and through the Resort Village Facebook page.
