Project Timeline

2024: Launching the Candle Lake Alive and Well Project with Community Focus Groups Focus Group Participants

In March 2024, the Candle Lake Health Services Committee launched the Candle Lake Alive and Well Project by hearing directly from the community. The Committee invited 40 Candle Lake residents to 2-hour focus group sessions as part of Phase 1 of our research. We brainstormed about information about health and wellness in our community. We asked - What services do we use? What works well? Are there barriers and challenges to accessing health services, and what do we want for the future?  The ideas flowed from the participants.

2024: Candle Lake Alive and Well Survey: Gaining insight into our unique demographics and specific health service needs

From July to November 2024, the Candle Lake Health Committee surveyed community members regarding health and wellness as individuals and as a community. 375 people responded providing insights into the community health needs and resources, now and for the future.

The summary report attached below, is the first data set gathered from the 2024 Alive and Well Survey. The report provides an overview of the community responses including overall demographics of the responders, and some of the key categories of information gathered. A hard copy is available at the RVCL Office, or the CL Health Center.

2025: Identifying and Bridging Service Gaps: Analyzing the Survey Data

Now that the Alive and Well Survey is complete, our goal is to clearly report the health assessment data, identify priority needs and then collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies to address them. The Candle Lake Health Services Committee continues to analyze the data received, assisted by the Health Quality Council researchers.

March 2025: Community Consultations

This is your opportunity to help us prioritize our community health and wellness needs and identify “simple small-town solutions” that might help to meet them. The groups will be set up similar to the Community Focus Groups we held in March 2024.
